This video excerpt is part of an ongoing documentary project I started working on a year ago, in the south of Mexico. It is just at its investigative stage and not the actual production of it.
The story of a school that thrived in total adversity. Threatened, extorted, and harassed by gang groups, a marginalized community located right next to a massive landfill area, surfers the struggles of stigmatization, drug abuse, violence, and discrimination in Oaxaca City, Mexico.
At the risk of being recruited by gangs or getting their lives wasted on drugs, the children of Vicente Guerreros’s community have almost no opportunities. Out of this struggle a music school is born, first It will have to overcome, resistance, indifference, and threats, before becoming hope for an entire community to provide their children and themselves an opportunity for a better life through musical education.
